Wedding portrait

Commissioned piece to be displayed at my ex-colleague's wedding reception which was held on last sunday.

I like drawing human figure, but i am not good at drawing portrait especially for wedding. I felt myself to be very tensed and restricted while doing this drawing. In result, the bride's hands are very stiff too. So to distract the viewers away from the obviously noticeable stiffness, gem stones, pvc petals and the ready made handicraft were added.

And, this is what i enjoyed most playing around with the elements to add more visual interests to otherwise simple and stiff portrait ;p

Time flies...

This is the greeting card made for the birth of my baby niece last september (with drawing copied from HOME written by Anita Kaushal). The right one is the recent photo taken while she was having bath. Does she look like the baby in the card?
She is turning 1 year old tomorrow!! We had have her b'day celebration last fri. According to their hokkien tradition, the baby has to select one of the items on the floor as shown below, as an indicator to what trade she will be involved in after she grows up. We expected her to pick up the drumstick.. but...guess what... she chose the $10 money note!!! she is going to be a millionaire..LOL.



See how happy she was to receive gold jewelleries as her gifts from her maternal grandma and uncle...a young rich lady now ;) I did not give her card this year. instead, i bought her pink dress with little cute jacket.


My good friend's birthday is coming too... on this wednesday. this is the hand made card given to her for her last year birthday...Happy Birthday to you, Jeslin.

Have hand made a birthday card for my sis for her birthday this coming saturday. Featured here is her beloved daughter - En En, with owl (me) and toy bear (my hubby).

My mother's birthday is coming. So have made a birthday card for her ;)

This is the initial sketch,with her riding her motorbike fetching my sis and her family from bus station. They're back from Dangi to Muar.

T-Shirt for New Zealand

I had ever made the above picture and have it printed out on a plain white t-shirt for my husband 6 years ago. This mixture of illustration and scanned-in travel index was to illustrate his dream for New Zealand trip. The printer ever commented that it looked nice and he thought my husband was a japanese...haha

Too pity my hubby didn't like it :( So i had cut it out from the t shirt and kept it in my portfolio bag.

However, the goal had been achieved in april 2007!! one month fantastic vacation!! We should celebrate one year anniversary today since our return on 9 May 2007.

for my colleagues

During weekend, managed to produce two postcard size portrait collages to my two colleagues - one is the bride-to-be and another who is always fun-loving and creatively resourceful, and one 9 x 12 in framed pic to my director who likes shnauzer a great deal but is not allowed to keep one at home.

Happy 2008

time really flies... 2007 is coming to an end soon.

what have i done in this past year?

so far, have consistently practiced yoga... learned how to relax myself and picked up some stress management skills. have changed a lot of jobs ;p...and getting to know that i am so blessed with unconditional love from my mum, my brother and his lovely wife and my hubby's support & humour, have been promoted to 'auntie' to my very first niece, getting the very first award at work.....so far so good lah.

(and, how could i forget our 1-month vacation in New Zealand? ;) think this is the longest holiday i have ever.)

what are my resolution for this coming year?

still practice yoga.... to be healthy and lively
improve my water color technique and composition
to live like an artist...able to see sparks in the mundane daily life, able to draw out what i see in my mind and feel in my heart.
have more faith and confidence ;)
be good to myself, my hubby, my mum, my brother & sis-in-law, my sis & bro-in-law... and all my friends...

last but not least... wishing all of you a properous year filled with health, wealth, love, joy and happiness!!!!

Bundles of joy

I have been 'promoted' to auntie 1 month ago.
This little cute baby girl resembles her mother.

I just hope she will not call me "ta yi ma" though i am really her mother's eldest sis... ha

"ta yi ma is coming" sounds awful to me ;p

Quality time out

Yesterday was my sister’s 27th birthday. Both of us did have great fun spending some quality time together – we enjoyed our 1-hour lunch at Cartel Café, catching up with each other and then spent another 2-hour hanging around the nice shops selling kids’ clothes and toys. Seeing those tastefully designed kid’s fashions had really made our day ;)
I didn’t get her any fantastic birthday gift. Just my hand-made card and one set of necklace and earrings. The necklace with little shining stones looked nice on her delicate neck.
Next year her birthday will be much different from the previous ones. She will have one little member joining the celebration – her baby girl will be arriving at this world in this coming September…yeah!! Now 7-month pregnant expecting my very first niece, my lovely sister is glowing with motherly love.

Mousy Jeslin

My good friend, Jeslin likes everything about mouse which is her Chinese horoscope. While we were still colleagues in the previous company, my favourite break away from the work routine was doodle some mousy cartoon characters on her post IT, recycled paper, note book and table calendar. Most of the drawings were done at her work station. There were themes for each drawings; about her anticipated vacations, her dinner date with her hubby, her work, what she would do on a rainy day, our friendship and favourite hang out spot during lunch breaks…etc. She liked the drawings so much that she had nearly all of them pinned on her cubicle notice board. ;)
Jeslin enjoys being outdoor, together with her beloved hubby. Hence, this drawing was to depict their favourite pastime spent with their friends who share their same passion on nature. It was made just before we both left our previous job posts, and had been uploaded as her desktop wall paper.
