money-making witch

My 1st choice on the career list when i was in primary school was to be a witch with a powerful & magic broom!! Whenever i shared this with my classmates, they looked at me like i was an alien..wahaha.
To date, this is still my number 1 dream job. now with the more enchanced profile - to be equipped with money-making skill. Once i master that marvelous spell, i can quit the 9-5 day job forever and ever..;p

Retrieve our raw material self

Inspired by 'A Weekend to change your life' by Joan Anderson.
The author has highlighted a very interesting point from her daily practice, i.e trace back our very old self which has been long forgotten after we grow up and conform ourselves to the societal norms. On top of our present self, the qualities we used to own when young are the fuels that is essential to help us rekindle our passions and dreams for life. Be it mischievous, carefree, imaginative, wild, playful, naughty, curious, silly..etc etc.
Go retrieve and weave them into our heart and soul. Our 'inner child' will be alive and we are going to have wonder-filled life again very soon. Promise!!

leaving the comfort zone

my 'taking risk' bugs make some noise in my head again. Unlike the little girl and her pet in the above painting, i still feel uncomfortable to leave the comfort zone.

Painting Party

'The Greek's Kitchen' on travelling & living channel has inspired me to draw this party planning. i have always wanted to have such a gathering - eat, play and paint on wall or floor with friends & families. At the end of the party, we would have the masterpiece completed by all of us as a memorable souvenir.

Time flies...

This is the greeting card made for the birth of my baby niece last september (with drawing copied from HOME written by Anita Kaushal). The right one is the recent photo taken while she was having bath. Does she look like the baby in the card?
She is turning 1 year old tomorrow!! We had have her b'day celebration last fri. According to their hokkien tradition, the baby has to select one of the items on the floor as shown below, as an indicator to what trade she will be involved in after she grows up. We expected her to pick up the drumstick.. but...guess what... she chose the $10 money note!!! she is going to be a millionaire..LOL.

See how happy she was to receive gold jewelleries as her gifts from her maternal grandma and uncle...a young rich lady now ;) I did not give her card this year. instead, i bought her pink dress with little cute jacket.

My good friend's birthday is coming too... on this wednesday. this is the hand made card given to her for her last year birthday...Happy Birthday to you, Jeslin.

practice and practice...

Sleepless night with self-amusement.

one of my favourite hang out is library.. how boring i am.
most of the patrons were studying hard for their coming exams. i was one of the few who were able to enjoy the leisure reading and people watching.

(i know the proportion of this lady's shoulder is a bit out and hideous)

though watching people, my internal chatter still went on.. as to what the others are thinking or chatting at their meal.

i start a new sketchbook!

To break through the bottle neck instead of sitting there await the inspiration spark knock on my head, i had bought my new sketchbook bought from Art Friend -hardbound 212 pages, slightly bigger than A5.
Have begun to filled in the first 3 pages with the following drawings:

Imaginative drawing on a little girl who is eager to leave her ivory tower for the real world. yet her mother couldn't just let her go. Wanting to know her girl's whereabout and ensure her safety, she had cut a hole into her daughter's toy bear's paw so that the saw dust would fall on the track wherever they go. Hence, the mother would not lose her eyes on her beloved girl.

there're new members at the swan lake, Singapore Botanic Garden - huge sculpture of 5 swans ready to soar into the vast sky.
Also, there's new building near the entrance gate, which accomodates info centre, food court, library and function halls. two young ladies were engaged in changing clothes and photo taking (probably for their projects).

quick sketches of stray cat near my place in the evening. this cat must have been very hungry as he kept meowing and pestering me. After finding out i was without food, he just gave up and he spent at least 20 mins to make himself neat and presentable awaiting for the feeding lady's arrival. He is very particular about his grooming which made me feel embarassed that his hair is much neater than mine =p

"not to mention growing up"

last fri night, i found a wonderful book in the library. It is called "Kids' view of the world" created by Candice Dunn & Rebecca Mann, a beautiful collection of enchanting views at the world through the innocents eyes of children. The black & white photos in the book has inspired me to make my own book marks as shown on the above. These two pictures were drawn in crayon on my note pad with my added graphics and the kids' musing quotes. The kids' unfiltered views are going to serve as my good reminder of all that is good in the world!

p.s: i must admit drawing kids is far more difficult than drawing adults. especially how to keep their innocent eyes and flawless complexion.

Saturday afternoon

After a long week of work, what do I look forward to?
Getting away from city and weekly housechores, immersing myself in absolute silence. with a good book, sunshine and occasional bird chirps...
What a carefree Saturday afternoon...

or getting together with little kids, let their laughters take away my weariness.
p.s: After having lunch with colleagues at mushroom pot, the mushrooms had inspired me draw those mushroom-like trees..heehee

Bedtime story

have you done this before? put up a show or tell a story, and let your imagination lure you into slumber.
I think TV has successfully taken over the role of bedtime storytelling nowadays. most of us would just simply fall asleep to the buzzing sounds from the TV..
